The latest generation of voice switches from Samsung – the OfficeServ 7000 series – incorporates sophisticated data security features which effectively protect the voice switch from these kind of attacks:

1. Integrated VPN tunnelling and encryption
2. Pre-configured firewall and packet filtering
3. Intrusion detection and protection

And by integrating these features right into a converged voice switch they can be deployed out of the box to protect the voice solution from unwanted attention. Customers can move to VoIP without exposing the system to potential hack attacks.

How does it work?

First of all the integrated firewall filters traffic going through the system so that certain suspect applications will simply be dropped before they can get through to the protected voice components.

Remote sites can be linked using the integrated VPN tunnelling and encryption capabilities of the system so that IP addresses can be disguised in such a way that hackers cannot determine IP addresses. The result - company communications are secure.

The Intrusion detection system (IDS) uses a rules engine to scan packet contents, searching for known signatures. If a suspect IP packet is discovered, the system takes immediate action, alerting the system administrator (in-house or outside) that a potential intrusion has taken place. The system also takes preventative action to block any further attack from this source.

SAMSUNG off to a flying startt at Sillverstone Product Launch


A packed audience of UK resellers welcomed Samsung's launch of a suite of new products, at Silverstone last month, where Samsung also announced details of its new Technology Sponsorship with Jordan. Presentations were held in the prestigious British Racing Drivers' Club at the trackside, and the 140-strong invited audience then took part in a half-day series of fun events to test their driving skills.
